Permit Office Fit out

In March 2021 we were contacted by James Buckingham, Shift Team Leader for Covanta Holdings, in regard to the Energy Recovery Facility (ERF) they were developing at Rookery South in Bedfordshire.

The site provides sustainable disposal of over 545,000 tonnes of residual waste per year and will generate over 60 megawatts of low carbon energy, enough electricity to meet the needs of over 112,500 homes.

As the Rookery South site was a newly developed ERF James was needing to source the full permit office solution required by an Energy from Waste plant. This included Lockout boxes, key exchange units, card safes, tags, MCB lockout, permit wallets and brass safety padlocks.

In March 2021, Reece Safety attended a site meeting with James to discuss his requirements in detail. One of the things that James found of particular benefit was Reece Safety being able to suggest new, or alternative products, which were better suited to the specific isolation required on site.

In addition to the Permit Office equipment James has requested a white board, featuring a high-quality drawing of the plant. James felt that it is a particular benefit of working with Reece that he can request such a bespoke product, which will be designed and manufactured by the Reece in-house Design and Print teams.

James chose Reece Safety Products because he had used us on other sites and was confident in the quality of our products and our service. James tells us that, for a project of this size, knowing that he could trust that the quotes would be drawn up speedily and with correct content and amendments was very important. James confirmed that the subsequent ordering was a smooth and easy process.

James has taken receipt of his order and confirmed that he would highly recommend Reece Safety and that, as a result of the successful fulfilment of this order, Covanta are setting Reece Safety up as an Approved Supplier. The lockout kit that was supplied to Rookery South has now become the Covanta core Permit Office kit and will be replicated on future sites.
