Intended for
Any person who needs to be assessed as competent to determine when it is appropriate to use ladders / step ladders; to undertake a pre-use examination of ladders / step ladders and to have an appreciation of correct location of ladders / step ladders in accordance with current legislation AND to carry out the scheduled statutory inspection of ladders in order to issue certification in accordance with current UK legislation
Introduction
This is a theoretical and practical training course following guidelines produced by various manufacturers

- Legislation and Regulations affecting work at height & ladder / step ladder use
- Select appropriate work at height equipment for the task
- Product standards and classifications for ladders and step ladders
- Identify component parts using industry standard naming conventions
- Ladder / step ladder risk assessment
- The difference between pre-use and formal inspections
- Inspect ladders and step ladders for damage pre-use
- Recommend action to be taken if faults found
- Accurately record details of ladders

Entry requirements
PROSPECTIVE DELEGATES MUST HAVE TOTAL FLUENCY OF BOTH SPOKEN AND WRITTEN ENGLISH LANGUAGE AND BE CAPABLE OF GENERATING AUDITABLE DOCUMENTS IN ENGLISH
Assessment method
Assessment will be carried out via online written exam at the end of each module PLUS the completion of multiple workplace ladder inspections which will be submitted and assessed during training
