Stainless Steel Lockout Hasp - Cole Hersee
- Developed in conjunction with the BAA with extensive trialling to address this major potential risk of contact with moving machinery
- Modified version of Reece Safety’s MLH1 hasp to fit into the Cole Hersee rotary isolator switch. The 8mm diameter stainless insert on the shackle fits the isolation point snugly and prevents movement.
- Fully satisfies the requirements identified by Terex to safely remove the risk of accidental re-energisation on this commonly used electrical isolator
- 6” length of Stainless Steel chain allows permanent fitment at isolator to prevent loss and accidental use of ineffective standard hasps
This has been developed in conjunction with the British Aggregates Association to address an identified risk with the common Cole Hersee electrical isolator. This is found commonly on mobile plant such as crushers and screens and has been found to allow re-energisation whilst locked out with conventional hasps and locks. The very small rotary movement of the switch, when locked out with conventional devices, including ours, was found to give re-energisation if held in this position.
The access to the switch is often difficult and an 8mm diameter shackle padlock is not common, especially with high numbers of differs needed to fit in with a safe system of work. Direct use of a padlock is often in contravention with site rules where the use of a hasp is mandatory.
The hasp is a variant of the our popular 316 marine grade stainless steel MLH1. We have trialled various options and the addition of an 8mm outer diameter insert has given the best solution - the need for the shackle to be twisted and movement restricted has been a challenge.
The addition of the 6” length of stainless steel chain allows the permanent attachment of the hasp at the point of the isolator as we would expect them to go missing if not attached locally. The use of standard hasps does not give an effective solution due to the movement possible.
