This EV fire blanket is designed to help isolate an electric or hybrid vehicle that is suspected of being at risk of a battery thermal event. When safely deployed, the blanket can help contain flames, heat, smoke and particulates, reduce the risk of fire spreading to nearby vehicles and provide valuable time for evacuation and the arrival of the emergency services.

The blanket is intended for use by appropriately trained personnel as part of a site-specific emergency response procedure. It is available in two sizes to suit different passenger vehicles.

How to Deploy the EV Fire Blanket

1. With two people, remove the EV fire blanket from its carry bag and position the rolled blanket at either end of the vehicle.
2. Unroll the blanket fully and lay it flat in line with the vehicle.
3. Attach the deployment poles to the two leading corners of the blanket and pull it over the vehicle in one continuous movement.
4. Make sure the blanket is tight all the way to the ground around the vehicle. Adjust it using your feet rather than approaching the vehicle unnecessarily.
5. As soon as it is safe, call 999. Give the vehicle location, make and model if known, and confirm that an EV fire blanket has been deployed.

Important Safety Information

This product is a fire-containment measure. It will not extinguish a fire within a lithium-ion battery and is not a substitute for attendance by the fire and rescue service.

• Only trained personnel wearing suitable PPE should deploy the blanket.
• Do not deploy the blanket if the vehicle is already visibly on fire or is unsafe to approach.
• Evacuate the surrounding area and keep people well away from the vehicle.
• After deployment, retreat to a safe position well away and upwind from the vehicle.
• Smoke, toxic gases or flammable vapours may still escape from beneath the blanket.
• Do not remove the blanket after deployment. Leave it in position for the fire and rescue service.
