Confined Space Training - Awareness for Managers

Description

This course is for persons who will not be required to enter the confined space but who are in a management position and responsible for committing others to supervise or work inside the confined space. This course is also aimed at a persons responsible for the development of risk assessments, safe systems of work and rescue plans rather than a “local” supervisor.

Delegates are required to appraise site conditions and generate a document pack which can be used by a live entry team at some future point, all document packs are assessed and certification is only issued to successful participants. Only on successful completion of the entire course and subject to the assessment criteria.

■ An understanding of legislative, personal and medical requirements for confined space entry
■ Characteristics of confined spaces - what is a confined space definition and classification
■ Knowledge of types of personal protective equipment
■ Understanding gas monitoring and awareness of atmospheric hazards
■ Understanding of the types and characteristics of escape sets
■ Understand the major hazards and hazardous atmospheres in relation to confined spaces
■ Understand the importance of risk assessment and its practical application
■ Be able to discuss safe systems of work and permits to work
■ Be able to define individual’s roles and responsibilities, especially the overseer (topman) role
■ Discuss the importance of emergency planning

■ Must speak fluent English
■ Please wear steel toe capped work shoes and standard workwear
