Group lockout is an important aspect of a lockout tagout system. In a situation where group lockout is occurring it is important that the safety of all worked be ensured. A key part of this is having the correct permit stations, boxes and units such as control key safety boxes. Control key safety boxes work so that the box can only be opened once all work is complete. One person is responsible for the control key which opens the box but first all secondary keys must be in position; once the secondary keys are position this indicates work is complete. Control key safety boxes allow confirmation of work being complete and all workers being safe. In addition to this there are also a range of card safe boxes and key exchange units.
